The Mine Land Rehabilitation Authority will be coordinating an exciting partnership to establish the Gippsland Seed Bank with the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) and local Gippsland nursery and ecological contractor Habitat Creations. This initiative will establish the future demand for seeds to be planted on former mining land.

We’re also partnering with the Cooperative Research Centre for Transformations in Mining Economies (CRC-TiME) to improve our understanding of planning for and implementing mine rehabilitation in the Latrobe Valley.

Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D’Ambrosio visited the Habitat Creations nursery at Moe last week to announce both projects and see first-hand the native flora that will become the foundations of the Gippsland Seed Bank.
