We’re working on a number of things at the moment at the Mine Land Rehabilitation Authority.
These include:
- Developing our implementation plan (the “doing piece” for our Monitoring and Evaluation Framework) which will specify the activities that we need to carry out to monitor the effectiveness of rehabilitation planning activities and the regional rehabilitation strategy. This is being done in consultation with public sector bodies and Latrobe Valley mine licensees.
- Planning for conducting strategic audits of public sector bodies and Latrobe Valley licensees in relation to the implementation of rehabilitation planning activities and the regional rehabilitation strategy.
- Planning for the preservation of relevant records and information in respect of registered mine land.
- Preparing education materials and meeting with local schools in readiness for delivering our education programs this year.
- Developing a working vocabulary of relevant terms for declared mine closure. This will be done in consultation with the government stakeholders and industry partners.
- Starting our fact sheet series – the first has just been released, and we’re planning to release one per month.
Read more in our implementation plan which will be published shortly.
