What a remarkable year! As we look back on 2024, here are some of the key milestones and achievements that have shaped our journey:

Key Engagement Projects

  • Launch of our 3D Augmented Reality App
    Now people all around the world can learn and explore all the elements of mine rehabilitation and what the future could look like.
  • Inaugural Engagement Roadshow
    Bringing people together to engage in meaningful discussions about mine rehabilitation, fostering deeper understanding and collaboration.
  • Video Storytelling: A Changing Landscape
    Through our video series, we’ve answered your most common questions, bringing the realities of mine rehabilitation to life. You can view our A Changing Landscape video series on the MLRA YouTube channel.
  • Fact Sheet Program
    We continued to deliver clear and accessible fact sheets, demystifying complex mine rehabilitation concepts for diverse audiences.

Key Technical Projects

  • Mine Closure Workshop for Government (May 2024)
    Attended by 75 participants, this workshop facilitated knowledge sharing and discussions. A recording is available on the MLRA YouTube channel.
  • Mine Rehabilitation Vocabulary
    Introducing a shared language to improve conversations and collaboration among stakeholders in mine rehabilitation.
  • CRC TiME Foundations of Mine Closure Course
    A groundbreaking course for mine closure practitioners, with contributions from Antonia Scrase. Learn more: CRC TiME Blog.

Advancements Aligned with the 2023 Strategy

Building on the initiatives outlined in our 2023 Strategy, we are proud to report the following achievements for this year:

  • Delivery of the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework
    Successfully delivered a framework for the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation and effectiveness of rehabilitation planning activities and the Latrobe Valley Regional Rehabilitation Strategy (LVRRS); and the achieving of the outcomes set out in the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
  • Enhanced Social Media Engagement:
    Increased the frequency of social media posts, leading to a significant boost in followers and audience interaction.
  • Expanded Educational Programs:
    Strengthened our school outreach by providing tailored resources and learning opportunities to educate students about the importance of mine rehabilitation.
  • Stakeholder Register Optimisation:
    Maintained and reviewed our stakeholder register, streamlining communication and fostering more effective engagement with all involved parties.
